Janvier 11 au 13

11 janvier - Et voilà nous sommes en route pour le Mexique.

Victoria - Port Angelis fût paisible contrairement à l'an dernier. Le détroit Juan de Fuca est reconnu pour ses marées dangereuses.

On se rend à Sequim, demain on planifie une grosse journée de route, on fait une petite épicerie et on relaxe.

12 janvier - 5h00 on part, notre destination Redding CA. a peu près 950km. Cette année on prend la route Interstate 5, pas extrèmement panoramique mais quand même plaisante. On part dans la pluie qui tourne en neige pour quelques heures, pour terminer par une superbe journée ensoleillée. On manque les hotels de Redding, on continue jusqu'à Red Bluff, 75 km plus loin. On arrive FATIGUÉS !

13 janvier - On prend ça relaxe aujourd'hui d'après John (j'en suis pas certaine, on verra). Pas certaine que sera notre destination, on part à 7h00. 4h00 arrive et John ne montre aucun signe de fatigue, probablement sa siesta de 100 minutes lorsque que je conduisait lui a donner de l'énergie, on est à 100km de Los Angeles. 1 heures 15 minutes dans le gros traffic, incroyable, ils sont fous les americains ! Eh bien, avec tout ce stress, on manque les sorties d'hotels encore ce soir, on continue jusqu'à San Juan Capistgrano, on s'écrase pour la soirée. John avait raison, on a seulement fait 950 km aujourd'hui comparé à 1047 km hier.

January 11 - Yes, we are now on our way to Mexico, the ferry ride from Victoria to Port Angelis was extremely smooth contrary to its usual roughness, going thru San Juan de Fuca Strait is typically known for its high current. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strait_of_Juan_de_Fuca

First night we stayed in Sequim, tomorrow is going to be a long day of driving, we take it easy tonight, we do a bit a grocery for our supper and relax.

January 12 - Today, we are aiming for Redding, approx. 950 km. We take off at 5am, not much to see for the first few hours it is still dark and raining. We are travelling the Interstate 5, unlike last year this route is not as scenic.

Well we miss the hotels in Redding, we continue to Red Bluff another 75 km, we are tired. Tomorrow, we are taking is slower John said (somehow I have my doubt, but we will see)

January 13 - We sleep in this morning, we leave at 7am instead of 5am. Not sure what our destination will be, it will depend on the traffic. Believe it or not, we stopped at a Wallmart for a shopping spree, prices were ridiculously low, I found some drawing material (I feel the artist in me coming out) and another few articles, John shopped for friends in San Ignacio who he promised steel toe boots and jeans.

It is 4pm and John shows no sign of fatigue, it must be the hour and 45 minutes sleep he took while I was driving, we keep going. LA is 100km away, we are heading that way. Within minutes we hit the traffic, amazing, 4 to 5 lanes each way, it is not bumper to bumper but almost. An hour 15 minutes to get thru, OUF ! and again we missed any exit with hotels, we keep going and find a Best Western in San Juan Capistrano just outside LA. It is 6pm, another 11hour day. By the way John was right we only did 950km today instead of the 1047km we did yesterday HA ! For your info, San Juan Capistrano is the first place the swallows stop in the Spring.
